Customer Service: does it exist?

Does anyone value customer service in today's day and age?

This has been a pet peeve of mine that has over the past decade grown far beyond that of a pet peeve to a full blown glorified swell of disgust.

I think the attitude of those who are there to provide customer service is truly shocking. They either have a massive attitude, and I do mean massive! Or they have no attitude at all... meaning they really could care less... they are ambivalent to anyone or anything... they look bored with everything including their job and those around them.

For example, looking for a child's shoe at Walmart, so I had searched all through the ones hanging on the hooks for the size I needed... then I thought perhaps they have more out back or in a drawer or something.... so I asked for help... god forbid you ask for help... so the blue smocked one begins by rolling her eyes at me and then says "You have to look through them!"

I replied... "I just looked through all of them. I thought perhaps you might have more elsewhere." That got another roll of the eyes and then a "What do you want ME to do?"

So I have decided to take on the task of venting, reporting, grading etc. the companies I interact with... to see if there is customer service out there or if this is an archaic concept that has not moved into this millenium. Perhaps it is too arrogant for us to expect quality service.

A few years ago I was in Saskatchewan - mainly in Humboldt - and found that customer service was alive and well out there.
Sorry I can'[t help you much, in this province. Did you ever consider the possiblity that customer service in a mom-and-pop store might be an improvement on Walmart?
